Quynh Dang, President - Mass. Dept. of Public Health

Quynh Dang currently works with the MA Department of Public Health where she directs domestic and sexual assault programs serving refugees and immigrants, GLBT populations, and faith communities.

She is president of the board and a founding board member of the Vietnamese American Initiatives for Development, which built the first Vietnamese Community Center in the United States and the Massachusetts Asians and Pacific Islanders for Health. Quynh is the recipient of the MA Victim and Witness Assistance Board's 2004 Access to Justice Award, the City of Boston's New Bostonian Award and the MA Commission on the Status of Women's Unsung Heroine Award for her advocacy on behalf of immigrant domestic violence survivors.

Paul Romary, Treasurer - Lemuel Shattuck Hospital

Mr. Paul Romary is the Chief Executive Officer of the 235-bed Lemuel Shattuck Hospital. Over the past decade, he has guided the facility to provide a unique role in the health care continuum as a resource for patients with complex medical, mental health and social service needs. The hospital's 25 specialty clinics and full service surgical, laboratory and radiology services manage over 40,000 encounters annually. Inpatient services provide nearly 90,000 days of care per year. The hospital is a public health facility that operates in conjunction with the state mental health and correctional departments.

Mr. Romary's goals for the hospital have focused on integrating services for disparate populations, especially correctional patients, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration based upon a culture of patient safety and championing the use of technology in the hospital setting, particularly an electronic medical record and digital radiology imaging.

Mr. Romary was previously budget director of the Massachusetts House Committee on Ways and Means, and has served in other public sector health care roles since the early 1980's. A graduate of Brown University, Mr. Romary was a VISTA community organizer and a newspaper reporter prior to his career in public service. A Boston resident since the early 1980's, he has lived in Roslindale since 1995.

Chris Darden, Director - Tenant

Gary French, Director - Boston Police Department

Gary French joined the Boston Police Department in 1983 and served in various capacities throughout his career. In 1988 he was promoted to Sgt and assigned to District 11 in Dorchester where he served as a patrol supervisor. In 1990 he became the Supervisor of the Community Policing Program in Dorchester. In 1995 he was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to District 2 in Roxbury before being re-assigned as the Commander of the Youth Violence Strike Force in 1995. As commander of the Youth Violence Strike Force he was responsible for disrupting gang related activity in Boston. He was actively involved in the implementation of the Cease Fire Strategy Boston.

In 2000, he was promoted to Lieutenant Detective and served as the Commander of the Sexual Assault Unit. In 2005 he was re-assigned to oversee investigations in Area E which included Jamaica Plain, Hyde Park Roslindale and West Roxbury. In January 2007 he was appointed to the Command Staff overseeing the Field Support Division whose primary focus was violent crime. In November 2010, he re-assumed his civil service rank as a Lieutenant Detective and was assigned to oversee the School Police Unit.

Gary French has a Masters Degree from Boston University. Gary in a veteran of the US Army where he served as a Military Police Officer from 1971 - 1973.

Kerry McGowan, Director - Phillips Brook House

Kerry McGowan is currently Director of Programs at the Phillips Brooks House Association at Harvard University, where he oversees student volunteer programs, including services to refugees and immigrants. He graduated from Boston College and served in the U.S. Peace Corps in Thailand, after which he worked in a refugee camp in Thailand. Before working at Harvard, he ran youth programs with a refugee program serving Vietnamese and Cambodian families living in the greater Boston area. He has also taught Adult ESOL for the City of Cambridge.

He holds a Masters of Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and lives in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Dorchester.

Loc Truong, Director - Harvard Foundation

Loc V. Truong has more than 15 years of experience working in a variety of educational settings, including K-12 public schools, nonprofit, and higher education. He has mentored teen fathers in a parenting education program, and worked as a counselor with both Upward Bound and GEAR UP, organizations that support and prepare first-generation low-income high school students for college. In 1999, as a featured guest both for the State of the Union address and for a special event at the White House, Mr. Truong was recognized by President Clinton and first lady Hillary Clinton for his work with AmeriCorps National Service. Mr. Truong has worked at Harvard University for six years.

In his previous position as assistant director of employer relations, Mr. Truong worked closely with employers in various education industries, helping them strategize recruiting methods and connecting them with Harvard students. He also worked closely with graduate students and alumni, guiding them in their job searches and managing career expos.

In his current position at the Harvard Foundation at Harvard University, Mr. Truong is the assistant director, working closely with the director to further the mission of the Foundation--to promote diversity and race relations at Harvard. He manages programmatic aspects of the Foundation as well as responsibilities for budgeting, supervision of staff, and provide advice to the Dean of Harvard College. Hailing from California, Mr. Truong received his M.S. degree in school counseling and his B.S. degree in biochemistry from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Nho Truong, Director - Tenant

Mr Nho Van Truong has resided in the US since 1975 and in Dorchester since 2005. His life long career is machinist for various companies such as Eastman Kokak, Bausch & Lomb and Smith & Wesson. He attended universities in VietNam and US. He graduated MilitarySchool and served in South Vietnam Army. He plays and teaches classical guitar and windsurfing for beginners.
