Vietnamese-American Initiative for Development

The Center

The Vietnamese American Community Center

In 2002 Viet AID completed construction and opened the Vietnamese American Community Center on Charles Street in Fields Corner/Dorchester. This was the first and remains the only Vietnamese American Community Center in the US. The Center was developed following a four year capital campaign, led by the CEO of Citizens Bank, that drew on the support of local Vietnamese residents, major corporations, local and national foundations and the City of Boston. Today, the Vietnamese-American Community Center hosts a number of arts and cultural activities as well as other programs and services during the week. Several non-profit organizations maintain their offices and programs at the Center including Associated Early Care and Education, Close to Home and Kit Clark Senior Services, non-profits that have partnered with Viet-AID on several initiatives.
