Viet-AID’s newest project is our largest property development undertaking to date. Viet-AID purchased two buildings and more than 16,000 square feet of land on Dorchester Avenue across from the Fields Corner subway station. Plans include demolishing the existing structures and constructing a new four-story building. The second, third and fourth floors will provide 43 affordable residential units including studios and one-bedroom units, and there will be 5 commercial spaces on the first floor. The project is expected to break ground in the summer of 2007.

Viet-AID’s homeownership initiative will create 20 units of affordable housing: 18 will be sold to first-time homebuyers and two will be rental units. These single- and two-family homes are being constructed on various small parcels between Fields Corner and Uphams Corner. The homes will incorporate building innovations that efficiently utilize natural resources to create healthier homes. Working with our partner, Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, the project will begin construction the summer of 2006.
