Nam Pham

Nam Pham possesses comprehensive experience in non-profit, government, and banking sectors in both domestic and international environments. Since December 2010, Nam has been the CEO of Vietnamese American Initiative for Development (Viet-AID), the first Vietnamese American community development corporation in the US founded by Vietnamese refugees and immigrants in 1994.

Nam has been a commercial banker for more than 20 years in both lending and credit for premier community banks and large commercial banks. He was New England chief lending officer then chief credit officer for United Commercial Bank. Prior to that he was Vice President for Regional Lending for Citizens Bank, and Community Development Director for Asian Communities for Bank of Boston. In 2010, Nam coauthored Lending Tool Kits for the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank.

From 1994 to 2000 Nam served as Commissioner of Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants, where he established micro-enterprises programs for immigrants. He has been a key note speaker and consultant on Asian American cultural and political issues, and a Visiting Lecturer at Tufts University.

Nam has been a community leader for the past 30 years, serving on numerous boards, including United Way's Community Investment Committee and Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital's Community Benefit Committee in the past. Currently, he is an Advisory Board member of University of Massachusetts-Boston's Institute for Asian American Studies, and President of Vietnamese American Volunteers Association. He became a member of Boston Election Commission in March 2011.

Nam earned his BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, and MPA in Political Economy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.

My brings extensive day to day project management expertise of complicated financially structured developments to Viet-AID.  From 200 to 2002, My served as budget analysis for the Committee for Ways and Means of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.  Since 2006, My has served as real estate project manager for Viet-AID and has been responsible for establishing project concept, coordinating acquisition, managing community and public entitlement process, assembling financing applications, and managing the development team for 4 affordable housing projects, which leveraged over $30 million in equity and debt financing to build 98 units of affordable rental and homeownership housing.

My has a BA in sociology and has completed advance studies in real estate development process and investment analysis sponsored by the Urban Land Institute and CCIM Institute.

Aspasia Xypolia

Aspasia is Viet-AID's Senior Real Estate Project Manager. Prior to this position she worked for an international urban design and landscape architecture firm. During that time she was involved with the urban design, visioning, development, and community engagement process in many US communities. With over five years of experience, her portfolio includes projects in Mobile, Alabama; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; New Orleans, Louisiana; Millville, New Jersey; and Prince George's County, Maryland. For these projects, Aspasia's responsibilities included project management and design. Additionally, she coordinated multiple firm team members, reported project progress to clients, prepared and managed project reports, prepared graphic presentation materials, participated in community meetings, and conducted focus group meetings.

At Viet-AID, Aspasia assists the organization with real estate and affordable housing development efforts. Her work responds to the needs of the Field's Corner diverse community and builds upon the area's many existing assets and resources. With each project, she combines her previous training in the design profession with community development and affordable housing finance expertise to contribute to a holistic view in Viet-AID's urban development activities.

A native of Greece, Aspasia holds a bachelor of science from the Agricultural University of Athens, a Masters in Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University, and a Masters in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ngo Dac Hoa

Hoa Dac Ngo is the Office Manager at Viet-AID. Hoa is a long-time resident of the Dorchester area and has been a part of Viet-AID's staff for the 9th year as Office Manager. Before joining Viet-AID, he earned his degree in Computer Networking and Computer Applications at Bunker Hill Community College and later worked as a Workstation Technician for LTX Corporation.

Hoa passionately believes in the social and financial empowerment of low-income Vietnamese families through education and public awareness. In addition to working as Office Manager, he also manages the First-Time Homebuyer Education Program and Foreclosure Prevention Counseling to help Vietnamese attain their American Dream as homeowners as well as achieve their stable homeownership.
