Vovinam

Vovinam, a Vietnamese Martial Arts, is a sport and a way of life to develop character and empower youth. The Center currently has more than 10 trainers and approximately 100 disciples from 6 to 60 years old practicing at VACC on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Vietnamese American Civic Association (VACA)

VACA is a Mutual Assistance Association established in 1984 by Vietnamese refugees to help Vietnamese immigrants and refugees realize economic stability, social integration, and a successful transition to the United States. VACA provides English to Speakers of Other Languages classes, citizenship and civics classes, health education and outreach, youth development programs, elderly services, and workforce development services. Van Lang

Van Lang provides Vietnamese language courses in our community center. The organization’s mission is to preserve the Vietnamese language and culture, establish an environment to promote volunteer activities, and support other nonprofit educational organizations. Asian American Resource Workshop (AARW) &
Dorchester Organizing and Training Initiative (DOT-I)

AARW is a member-based organization that uses arts, education, and activism to build the skills and political analysis of our pan-Asian membership and work for the empowerment of the Asian Pacific American community to achieve its full participation in U.S. society. The VACC serves as a voter registration and polling station during local and national elections.

Lien Doan Bach Dang Huong Dao Boston (Boy and Girl Scouts)

The Boy & Girl Scout Troops meet at the Community Center and are divided into four different age groups. The groups have joining requirements that must be completed, including participation in a camping trip each year to maintain active scouting status. The Dorchester Table Tennis Club (DTTC)

The Dorchester Table Tennis Club (DTTC) was founded in 2004 and is a member of the Vietnam American Initiative for Development (VietAID). Dorchester Table Tennis Club is a non-profit organization. The purpose of the club is to promote a sport that is suitable for enhancing the fitness of Vietnamese-Americans of all ages. Table tennis has practical benefits to serve the community with the following advantages: maintain and protect the health of the elderly; provide youth with a sport that promotes fitness and athletic development; serve as a highly competitive, exciting sport that helps provide a healthy outlet for young people in place of electronic devices or computer games; a sport that can be played year-round, indoors, and does not require investment in bulky equipment and large premises; affordable, in line with the budget of Vietnamese parents; less risk in training as well as when playing or competing; all ages can play together. Children at 5, 6 and older can start, and 70, 80 years old can still play. Last but not least, this exciting entertainment can help people avoid alcoholism and drug addiction by giving them an outlet for their time.

MassCOSH

MassCOSH strives to ensure that all workers earn their living and return home alive and well. MassCOSH unites workers, unions and community groups with environmental and health activists, to end dangerous work conditions, to organize for safe, secure jobs, and to advocate for healthy communities. Through training, technical assistance and building community/labor alliances, MassCOSH mobilizes its members and develops leaders in the movement to end unsafe work conditions.
